Solaris Movement Fitness Dance

“I've been working with Charlotte to tackle some niggles and tight muscles that have impacted my dance technique, especially my shimmy. Charlotte put together a programme of simple and easy to follow MET exercises that fit into my schedule alongside my dance practice. The improvements in my mobility, posture and isolations have been awesome and finally I have a decent shimmy!” - Karla, Shoreham-By-Sea, UK

Solaris Movement Fitness Dance

Hi! I’m Charlotte and I’m passionate about belly dance and movement of the human body. And pizza.

Ironically, I started belly dance classes because I was looking for a way to move and keep fit without going to the gym.

I discovered Fusion Belly Dance and Fat Chance Style® Belly Dance (Tribal Fusion and formerly ATS) and fell in love with the intricate yet flowing movement, the rich costuming and other-worldly aesthetic and the wide range of worldwide music in the classes.

I became addicted to developing mastery and knowledge of my own body and to the self-confidence I was gaining, not to mention the awesome community and the myriad of festivals, shows and haflas to attend (hafla = party in Arabic).

In the early days I had no aspirations of becoming a professional dancer however my obsession was growing and I began to understand that in order to improve I needed to add some form of strength and mobility practice for cross-training and injury prevention.

I was also coming to the realisation that I was not getting any younger and needed to create a sustainable movement practice outside of dance to live a long and healthy life.

Yet for the first 13 years of my belly dance career I also had a full time job, leaving limited time for dance, let alone incorporating other fitness styles.

With much trial and error, I have developed the habit of regular movement, incorporating compact strength and flexibility sequences within my dance practice to maximise the little time I have.

I want to share these secrets with you so that you can do the same! I have created a unique programme specially for people who love to belly dance and are struggling to find the time for practice and cross-training. Click here to find out more!

I have been teaching belly dance since 2009 and my regular weekly classes are open to all. Whether you want to dance to awesome music and connect with your body or want to train hard and develop performance skills, learning to belly dance is truly transformational.

I am committed to deepening my knowledge of this exquisite art form with ongoing studies in dance technique, history, culture and music in order to share with you and provide inspiration for your own dance. Come and dance with us!

I have been performing since 2008 and have been lucky enough to dance in such varied venues as exclusive cabarets, grand stages and even the ruins of a Roman palace!

I love to bring fun and entertainment to people’s special occasions such as birthdays, hen parties and corporate events and revel in bringing colour and sparkle to festivals, carnivals and street parties.

I direct a Brighton-based dance company and have beautiful collaborative projects with other professionals in the South-East, London, Dublin and Minnesota USA!
